Sáng nay trời Canberra nắng ấm, anh Trương Quốc Việt không bị ướt lạnh như mấy ngày qua.

 

Nắng ấm đủ để sưởi thêm tinh thần của anh đã tọa kháng đến ngày thứ 8 trước Quốc Hội Úc và ngày thứ 15 kể cả 8 ngày anh tọa kháng trước toà đại sứ VC ở Canberra.

 

Ấm áp hơn khi được hai vị Đại diện của Ủy Ban Điều Tra Nhân Quyền của Quốc Hội Úc, ông Philip Ruddock và Laurie Ferguson đến thăm, hỏi han anh về lý do và nguyện vọng của anh khi tọa kháng trước Quốc Hội Úc. Anh Việt cho biết là căn nhà và đất đai của gia đình anh đã bị VC cướp đi, anh và dì của anh đã bị đánh đập và bỏ tù khi thưa kiện chính quyền địa phương.

Ông Philips đề nghị anh gởi đơn tường trình rõ sự việc cho Hội đồng Nhân Quyền rồi họ sẽ xem xét và yêu cầu nhà cầm quyền Hà Nội giải thích về sự kiện nầy. Cuối cùng anh Việt nói rằng anh tọa kháng ở đây không chỉ là cho anh mà cho rất nhiều người dân Việt Nam cùng cảnh ngộ như anh.

 

Mục đích và nguyện vọng của anh ngồi trước Quốc Hội là anh muốn cho chính phủ Úc biết tình trạng tồi tệ về nhân quyền ở VN và mong chính phủ Úc nên ngưng viện trợ cho VN vì số tiền giúp cho VN không giúp gì được cho người dân nghèo mà chỉ giúp cho sự tồn tại của một chế độ độc tài, một chế độ bất công, tham nhũng đầy bất công.

Trường hợp của anh Trương Quốc Việt đã cho chúng ta thấy rằng tuy đơn độc nhưng với sự quyết tâm anh đã gây được sự chú ý và quan tâm của chính khách Úc như Dân Biểu Chris Haynes, Nghị Sĩ Laurie Ferguson, Thượng Nghị Sĩ Philip Ruddock, ngoài ra anh Việt còn được giới truyền thông ngoại quốc (Pháp, Anh) tìm đến phỏng vấn.

 

Sự đơn độc và lòng can đảm của anh Trương Quốc Việt, một người chân ướt chân ráo từ Việt Nam mới sang, đã đánh động lương tâm của chính giới Úc.

 

(Điều này nói lên việc làm của một nhân chứng đơn độc đôi lúc còn gây được nhiều tác động hữu hiệu hơn cả ngàn người toạ kháng).

 

Vậy xin mạn phép tạm sửa câu "one picture worth a thousand words" lại thành "one man worth a thousand voices"!

Thank you for being interested on the lone protester from VN in Canberra Mr. Truong Quoc Viet. I would like to brief you about the AusAID that the Australian Government has been spending to improve poverty and human rights in VN.

 

 You can get all of the details of this program and figures of aid moneys spent via the Communist government of VN since 2001 to date on the AusAID website. However, I have listed herewith the amounts of aid Australia has given to VN since 2001 for your perusal:

2001-02 73.3 millions dollars
2002-03 72.2 mil
2003-04 72.1 mil
2004-05 73.7 mil
2005-06 77.3 mil
2006-07 81.5 mil
2007-08 90.8 mil
2008-09 93.1 mil
2009-10 105.9 mil
2010-11 137.9 mil
2011-12 150.4 mil
TOTAL : 1,028.2 million dollars

According to the AusAID website, the fundamental purpose of Australian aid is to help people overcome poverty and the strategic goals of the program are:
saving lives promoting opportunity for all sustainable economic development effective government, and
humanitarian and disaster response The Aid program also aims to support effective governance to: deliver better services through improved government efficiency and effectiveness improved security and enhanced justice enhanced human rights In a nutshell, if the aim and purpose of Australian aid is to provide the poor Vietnamese people with MORE housing, MORE lands, MORE justice, LESS human rights abuses then it has failed MISERABLY!.

 

 VN today after more than 11 years of aid from Australia is moving backward.

 

Ten of thousands of poor farmers and landoweners were stripped of their houses and lands by the corrupted and brutal government officials. Serious human rights abuses are rampaging. One must ask where the money of our Australian aid has gone? How come the communist party members and government officials are extraordinary rich with billion and million dollar accounts within VN and in overseas Swiss banks whilst Vietnamese ordinary citizens continue to live at or below the poverty line of $2.00 per day?

 

 Tens of thousands of people and even independent churches have lost their homes and lands, even sacred burial sites to the government and local corrupted officials without any or extremely little compensations.

Mr Truong Quoc Viet is a typical example of these actrocities. Instead of the Vietnamese poor and disadvantaged people benefited from the last 11 years of AusAID, they saw no improvements and continue to suffer in the hands of the regime that received direct aid from Australia but spent most of its money on thugs, riot police and prisons to take away poor people's lands, houses and brutally supressing human rights.
